The family of a murdered Valdosta woman is angry that her accused killer was released on bond, just three months after the murder.
Denisha Williams was shot to death while working as an exotic dancer at Peaches Cabaret on Sept. 3, 2022. Witnesses identified her live-in boyfriend, Jacquez Jelks, as the shooter and he was arrested within hours. Officers surrounded a home for two hours demanding Jelks exit and eventually forced their way in to arrest him.
The following day, Jelks relatives went to the couple’s residence and stole several items that belonged to the deceased woman.
Three months later, Jelks was released on bail, a decision that infuriated the victim’s family. They were already heartbroken. Now add stunned and angry to the list of emotions they’re experiencing.
Denisha Williams was a cousin of the social media personality ‘Luring Lady’.
“I’m utterly disgusted,” said Luring Lady. “The state of Georgia opened a wound that hadn’t even started to heal.” According to court documents, Jelks was charged with Malice Murder, the highest homicide charge in the state. He received a bond of $200,000 due to a law that grants bail to felons who are not indicted within 90 days of their arrest. Despite eyewitnesses and video footage identifying Jelks as the shooter, the case wasn’t sent to a grand jury in the 90 days.
“Jacquez has no regard for humanity. He killed the mother of his child. That goes to show how much he values human lives. Now he’s free with his family while Denisha is cold in the ground,” said Luring Lady. “The public needs to be warned that this demon is out before someone else pays the price. If a woman meets him and doesn’t know that he killed his child’s mother, then that woman could fall victim. But if any woman is dating him knowing that he did such a thing then I wouldn’t be mad if he did the same to her.”
Luring Lady is a controversial commentator mostly known for posting reflections on politics, racism, true crime, and various taboo subjects. Her social media posts often escalate into angry rants about racial undertones, injustices, or other social topics. Luring Lady now hopes to use her voice to get the attention of Georgia officials, hoping they’ll find fault in the bond terms that Jelks was released on.
