Twelve years ago, Robin Eileen Bernstein and her husband had separated but were not yet divorced.
When her husband died unexpectedly, Ms. Bernstein decided to buy two burial plots: one for him and one for his grieving girlfriend. When the girlfriend later got married, Ms. Bernstein was left with a burial plot she didn’t want.
