A recent YouTube video shows a racist incident in which a waitress of a redneck bar in Florida called cops on a black lady and lied saying she walked out on a tab.
In actuality, the black lady ordered chicken at Johnnie Brown’s in Delray Beach, and she took only one bite before telling a waitress that she didn’t like the chicken. She did not continue the meal, and all eight pieces of chicken wings were still visible on the plate in the video. The waitress was supposed to do what all wait staff do when a customer doesn’t like what they ordered, which is remove the dish from the customer, and try to correct the dining experience by asking the customer if they would like to order something different. This waitress didn’t remove the chicken and didn’t return to ask the customer if she would like to order something different. Her reaction was strange to say the least, but it became erratic after the woman left the restaurant. This is where it become overly absurd and only a fool would deny the obvious racism. The waitress chased the woman down the street shouting that the woman had walked out on a tab and “was going to jail”. She clearly expected the crowd to run to her aide and attack the woman the way black people have been attacked in the past when whites accused them of anything but thankfully, black people have cell phones now to record such incidents and the black woman recorded the aftermath in which the waitress was behaving entirely like a drug addict. The waitress, Jennifer Miceli, is seen in the video blocking the restaurant’s exit to prevent her from leaving, which is very much illegal. Furthermore, Miceli had a bartender call the cops to state an outright lie: that the woman walked out on a tab.
So, here we have a situation where a customer of a restaurant wasn’t enjoying her meal, and the waitress totally flipped out. The fact that the plate of uneaten chicken wings was still in the spot where the black lady sat, unmoved is proof that Miceli did not handle it correctly. If a customer doesn’t like a dish, wait staff are supposed to remove the dish right away. Why was the chicken still at the table after the woman said she did not like them? In the video, Miceli is even heard saying “you ate them” yet the video clearly shows that eight pieces of chicken wings remained on the plate. How could she have eaten them if they were still on the dish? At one point in the video, a cook is heard speaking to the customer and saying what common sense should have told Miceli or any waitress— “ok so then let’s get you something different, what else would you like to order.” Why did a cook need to leave the kitchen to say that, if Jennifer Miceli was the waitress? Perhaps she has been robbed by a black person in the past and left overly traumatized, which triggered her when a black person simply didn’t like their food. Or perhaps she feels black people are “less than” and not entitled to dislike meals (believe it or not, those types do exist. Some people genuinely feel that black people are inferior and not entitled to have feelings). Or could Jennifer Miceli be a crackhead as the black woman said in the video. By her totally strange reaction, I would guess she’s on a drug heavier than crack. Maybe heroin or meth.
Moving along, after several minutes of loud cursing and excessive shouting (all because someone didn’t like the chicken wings that they ordered) the manager and the cops stepped in and said the lady doesn’t have to pay for food she didn’t eat. No crime was committed, and the cops shouldn’t have been called.
The woman left the restaurant and so did the cops, but Jennifer Miceli wasn’t arrested for her disorderly conduct. Had the races been reversed, the black woman would have certainly gone to jail for doing all that Miceli did. This is part of a bigger issue: racism and accountability. People shouldn’t be treated differently because of their skin color but only a fool would deny that race plays a role in how police handle situations. Black people are arrested over very minor things, even young black kids are thrown in jail for things that white adults receive simple warnings for.
It is very important to discuss these incidents to ensure fairness for everyone. Think about the waitress’s false police call and her continued employment, despite her actions. No establishment would keep a black employee who conducts themselves in the erratic manner that Jennifer Miceli did.
Furthermore, the victim never received an apology from the restaurant’s higher personnel. Craig Menin owns Menin Development, which oversees Johnnie Brown’s restaurant. Jordana Jarjura is an executive with Menin Development who is aware of the situation yet has not acknowledged it. Lack of accountability is why these issues still exist. The woman has posted screenshots of Menin Development’s Instagram account viewing her Instagram stories, but said they’ve never reached out to apologize. The restaurant is obviously executed by rednecks who set a tone for their employees to blatantly mistreat black people.
